Take a trip down the memory lane and get a glimpse of the future of Hong Kong’s housing development

Located at Prosperous Garden in Yau Ma Tei, the HKHS Exhibition Centre has been serving the public since 2018. In March 2024, the Exhibition Centre re-opens after undergoing a comprehensive renovation, unveiling a fresh and captivating new look that aims to create an innovative and diverse experience for visitors.

The Exhibition Centre aims to share with students, residents and the general public the past, present and future of Hong Kong’s housing development, and as well HKHS’s mission and roles as a “housing laboratory”. The Exhibition Centre also serves as a liberal studies platform about local housing development, providing experiential learning opportunities for the teaching of General Studies curriculum for primary schools and Citizenship and Social Development curriculum for secondary schools.

Creating Homes for the Community

This zone introduces the Housing Society's role as a "housing laboratory" and its housing projects that have developed across different eras. From the groundbreaking establishment of Sheung Li Uk, Hong Kong's first rental housing estate, to over seven decades of progressive development, the Housing Society has remained steadfast in its unwavering commitment to providing affordable housing. Explore our remarkable 3D Communal Wall, a showcase of daily necessities from bygone years. The collection includes rent record cards to tenancy agreements and more, carrying cherished sentiments and nostalgic memories of the housing estates’ yesteryears.

Exploring the Journey of Housing

By immersing themselves in a retro arcade game, visitors will gain insights into the housing ladder in Hong Kong and the pivotal role played by the Housing Society. This includes rental estates, subsidised sale housing, and full market value developments as well as elderly housing. The exhibition area also features an immersive LED dome, boasting a diameter of 1.35 meters. Utilising virtual reality technology, visitors can delve into various elderly housing projects, experiencing firsthand the thoughtfully designed and elderly-friendly facilities.

Creating Homes for Sustainable Living

This zone tells about how the Housing Society applies innovative technologies across various businesses to achieve sustainable development. Visitors can experience the cutting-edge 3D naked-eye visual effects, learning about into the Housing Society's utilisation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology. They can also explore the concept of building their own homes by means of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC). This zone also highlights the Housing Society's sustainability strategies in property management, community engagement, and cultural heritage preservation including the preservation of memories from redeveloped housing estates, enabling visitors to connect with the people stories woven within these communities.

A highlight of the exhibition centre is the "Future in Bloom", a magnificent 2.3-meter-tall tree. This captivating centrepiece symbolises the Housing Society's unwavering dedication to providing quality homes for the community, fostering growth, and embracing sustainable development. After the tour, visitors are invited to express their wishes for the community at the "Make a Wish" wishing tree, leaving behind their aspirations and hopes for the future.

Multi-purpose Activity Room

The Exhibition Centre includes a multi-purpose activity room called "Knowledge Oasis" that can accommodate approximately 40 people. It serves as a hub for fostering connections and knowledge exchange, which can be used for holding educational and corporate activities.
