HKHS Gerontech Competition 2020/21 - Briefing Session cum Workshops

2020-11-07

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) organised the Gerontech Competition in this academic year with an aim to encourage the younger generation to invent for the improvement of elderly wellbeing. Through creative ideas and the application of technology and gerontology, we facilitate the development of age-friendly communities and groom young talents for the industry.

To prepare the participating teams for the Competition and inspire their creativity, HKHS is organising a series of online workshops with the first two completed on 7 November. During the workshops, Ms Fiona Wong (Occupational Therapist, Housing Society Elderly Resources Centre) introduced the existing age-friendly home design and gerontech products; and Mr Johnny Yuen (Chief Technology Officer, Senior Citizen Home Safety Association) shared the information on elderly services and the demands for gerontechnology among the elderly. The Competition briefing session was also held on the same day with over 1,500 teachers, students and members of the public attended.
