About the Competition

For over two decades, the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) has been relentless in its mission to promote "ageing in place". To encourage young people to unleash their creativity and make use of their knowledge on technology and gerontology to design products attuned to the needs of the elderly, HKHS organised the “Gerontech Competition” in 2021/22 for the second year, aiming to drive the application of gerontechnology and contribute to the creation of an age-friendly community.

The Competition consisted of two rounds. In the first round, participating teams gained an understanding of the competition theme by taking part in various activities, followed by the submission of preliminary designs. Shortlisted teams from Round 1 then proceeded to Round 2, in which they received advice from professionals and participated in elderly visits to learn more about their needs, in order to enhance the practicality of their entries.
