To promote the concept of "cross-generation harmony" and encnourage young people to understand and care about the housing needs of the elderly, the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) organised the "Housing for the Elderly" Essay Writing Competition for Senior Secondary School Students and co-organised by the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The competition was well received with over 1,100 entries from 92 secondary schools.
