HS Academy Alumni Club Inaugural Luncheon

2019-07-30

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) has been dedicated to nurturing young talents in housing-related industries through extensive initiatives including provision of scholarships, bursaries and internship opportunities over the years.  With the aim to further engage the scholarship awardees and enhance their personal and professional development, the HKHS Academy Alumni Club was formally set up on 30 July.  Among the officiating guests of the inauguration ceremony were HKHS Chairman Walter Chan, HKHS Chief Executive Officer Wong Kit-loong, and Youth Development Commission Vice-Chairman and MWYO Director Lau Ming-wai.

The scholarship/bursaries schemes granted by HKHS, namely the “Hong Kong Housing Society Award”, the “Housing Society Community Scholarship” and the “Housing Society Scholarship and Bursary Scheme for Employees’ Children”, have benefitted more than 1,800 students attending Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) and local tertiary institutions.  The Alumni Club will organise an array of learning and community service activities for its members, with a view to expanding their professional network and broadening their horizon.

To cultivate the youngster’s understanding and interests towards the society, the Alumni Club organised its first activity in June this year for members with a visit to the Hong Kong News-Expo to learn about the history of Hong Kong’s news media.  More activities including industry talks, leadership training workshops and community services for the grassroots children and elderly will be organised with partnering organisations, realising the Alumni Club’s six visions of “Learn”, “Engage”, “Aspire”, “Drive”, “Embrace” and “Respect”, and grooming the youths to be the future LEADERs.
