HKHS Gerontech Competition 2020/21

In light of the challenges brought by ageing population, the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) has embarked on different housing projects for the elderly 20 years ago and rolled out the Aging-in-Place (AIP) Scheme in rental estates to advocate the concept of “Ageing in Place”. To help elderly live an independent and self-reliant life in their retirement living, promoting gerontechnology plays an integral part in this.
HKHS is organising this Competition the first time to encourage the younger generation to invent for the improvement of elderly wellbeing through creative ideas and the application of technology and gerontology.
The Competition consists of two rounds. Participating teams will first understand the needs of the elderly by taking part in visits and submit preliminary design. Shortlisted teams from round one will proceed to round two where they will receive advice from professionals and take part in elderly visits to learn more about the needs of the elderly for enhancing their design in the finale.
