2018-05-24

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) held the Launching Ceremony of its 70th Anniversary Roving Exhibition today (24 May) at City Gallery. The ceremony was officiated by HKHS Chief Executive Officer Wong Kit-loong, Senior Curriculum Development Officer (Liberal Studies) of Education Bureau Charles Chow, Senior Development Manager of HKEdCity Ling Hung and Honorary Adviser to the Hong Kong Museum of History Cheng Po Hung. On the same occasion, awards were presented to the winning schools of the “Cross-generation Harmony” Microfilm Competition for Secondary Schools 2017/18 held earlier.

This roving exhibition is one of the celebration events for the 70th Anniversary of HKHS. Through the precious old photos with text and video illustrations, members of the public are enabled to get a deeper understanding of the housing development in Hong Kong and the accomplishments of HKHS over the past 70 years. A 1:1 model recreating a domestic flat of the first rental estate of HKHS Sheung Li Uk in the 50s was exhibited, together with the display of historical items such as Rent Record Card, showcasing the living conditions of the residents in the early days.
